Similarities and Differences of MLA and APA

Similarities 1. Indents on new paragraphs are 1/2 inches long. 2. Double spaced throughout. 3. Page numbers at upper right had corner. Differences 1. APA has no quotations, MLA allows quotations. 2. For page numbers, your last name is included before the number in MLA; whereas APA doesn't have you include your last name 3. APA header and title has a separate page followed by  name, and school name. MLA has a header on the first page along with its introduction page. 4. APA has two spaces after punctuation, MLA only has one space. 5. Humanities use MLA, social sciences use APA

Major Writing #1 Response

        This assignment asks me to conduct an interview with an individual that participates in writing activities in their professional life, preferably someone in my field of interest: biology. I will ask questions regarding how they utilize rhetoric in their professional life, how much they write, and how they use their writing structure to communicate with their intended audience. I will also ask if they can provide with examples of what genre of writing they use for publishers, other researchers, students, and their research team. After the interview, I will find a website appropriate for my field of interest so that I may see how biologists share ideas in the formal academic manner and in a non-academic manner.          I will write the paper like I do for a research paper. I will state how my interviewee writes and give evidence that support my claim.
